The reports vary. Some say it rings true, others say it just sounds a bit overblown. So you decide…
As the story goes, a journalist was at a Microsoft event (Windows Mobile 6.5 launch) in Munich, Germany. He (along with the others) was told by MS staff to neither mention nor use Apple products as it was a Microsoft event and thus an insult to use Apple products.
Since this happened in a room full of journalists (see picture…yes, they’re all using Macs) the tirade (too strong? perhaps) was transcribed. Google’s translation machine is bad (real bad) but the gist of it is that “They’re not better than us. We’re as good as them. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” Blah blah blah.
It seems that the reporter in question mentioned to some of his fellow journalists that he’d never owned a cell phone that was easier or more pleasant to own and operate than the iPhone. We are Microsoft. This will not, can not, stand.
Seems it’s not just the skins for the Zune that come thin around MS these days.
And I just love that picture. That’s from the actual event.
