The world’s best browser, now for Windows too??
Whoa Nelly! This one’s a stinker of the worst order.
The marketing team over at Apple has gone on hyperbolic overdrive with that one. This one is bad on several fronts, not the least of which it can hose your system install (yes—you read that right) or render your current browse-capable apps (see below) useless—all while it doesn’t work well itself!
First, it completely rebuilds the Safari Webkit (the guts of your current Safari installation) and replaces it with the new Webkit frameworks. This requires a restart of your Mac, which should be some indication of just how extensive a system change is happening. But, in addition, it messes up all existing applications that utilize Webkit, which includes my favorite News Reader, MacReporter, as well as anything else that renders Web Pages within itself.
The installation procedure has multiple reports of having completely hosed the systems of multiple users, and the only path back is to Archive and Install a clean OS X. This is NOT an acceptable tradeoff for trying the latest and best, and I recommend that you do NOT install this beta just to test it out and “let’s see how it is.”
Stay away. Stay far, far away.
